A Doctor Who guide.

I mention this show often and it seems tht a lot of people are totally unfamiliar with it even though it has been running for decades. Here's a good and simple guide to how to start watching if you are so inclined.

The truth is out there.

If the story about thousands of dead birds falling from the skies over Arkansas this weekend after "hitting something" unknown and unseen doesn't conjure up visions of alien invasion or, at the very least, infiltration, then I feel sorry for you for your lack of imagination. And fun.

Caprica is worth your time.

Caprica, one of the best new TV shows of the season, took a break as of Friday night last, until the Fall. This Battlestar Galactica prequel is apparently struggling to find its audience and that's not good news. Part of the problem is that it has so far been more about ideas than action (though the pace picked up in the mid-season finale) and has perhaps been too complicated by half.

I suspect it will all work better seen at a faster pace (i.e., not one episode a week, but two or three back to back) and that is now possible right here, where all the episodes to date are available. I don't think you will be disappointed if you give it a shot.

Catching up was the way I first got into Battlestar itself, renting disk after disk from Netflix to see seasons two and three (never have seen season one) while recording current shows for future viewing. It was only the final season that I watched "live" and it was disconcerting for while there, having to wait a week to see what happened next.
