"The distinctive ethnic group that opened its doors to all."

Anyone who has known me over the years is likely aware of my deep disdain for WASP culture and the ways they (in my eyes) screwed a lot of things up. I have to say that this column in last Friday's New York Times has given me pause and caused me rethink and reevaluate that position. I haven't changed my mind quite yet, but my eyes have been opened to a broader perspective that I have not not previously considered.

Having one's assumptions challenged is a good thing.
