Life's a very funny proposition.

This George M. Cohan song was the closer for the final episode of the first season of the very good Boardwalk Empire on HBO tonight. Strikes me as a good summary of our trying to make sense of this vale of tears...

    I'm so glad I didn't give up on this show. It took almost half the season to really get hooked. The character development was obvious, but one that really didn't engage me until the last 4, or so, episodes. The long scenes, particularly of the season finale, really showcase some fine acting.
