Villanova is for real. Temple? Maybe not so much.

While I fear that their lack of bodies (coach Jay Wright is working with an eight-man rotation at present, one of those being a freshman who is still recovering from serious injuries to his legs) will be a real issue during the long Big East slog against some of the best teams in the country, Villanova's 19-point run to beat Maryland today and get their record up to 16-1 (with Connecticut coming up Monday afternoon) convinces me that the Wildcats deserve their Top Ten ranking.

Meanwhile, Temple losing from the opening whistle to Dusquesne is very depressing. Juan Fernandez had to sit out virtually the entire game due to injury, but they still should beat the likes of Dusquesne. In a second-tier conference like the Atlantic Ten that will allow the likes of St. Joe's to be a member, you don't have a lot of wiggle room if you want to go to the Big Dance in March.

  1. Ummm, when was the last time Temple or any A10 team other than St. Joe's had an undefeated season?

When was the last time Temple or any A10 team other than St. Joe's had two players as first-round draft picks in the same year?

    Just sayin'....

  2. Living in the past ill becomes you, Pat. It reeks of desperation.
